In a 5-2 decision, the New York Court of Appeals upheld on Thursday the murder convictions of defendants in three separate DWI cases. The specific facts in the cases were similar, although not identical: Martin Heidgen, while intoxicated, drove his pickup truck on the Meadowbrook Parkway in the wrong direction. A Lynbrook, New York man pled guilty last week to his twelfth charge of driving while intoxicated. Sean Crane built up that resume over more than thirty years of driving on the streets of Long Island. In fact, the convictions were evenly divided, six in Suffolk County and the other six in Nassau.
